You're entitled to

Important Update: First Japanese beetle sighting. Where: Herb Garden (rose). When: 12:20 PM, June 26, 2009. Action taken: Squashed between thumb and index finger. Alert Status: High.

An explanation about my absence. Three words: back to school.

School bus driver school that is. I'm busy with 14 hours of book learnin, and six hours of school bus driver training. After this, comes the testing. Four written tests, and then the actual school bus driver test.

I'm not sure if I'll get a job drivin a school bus when it's over, but chances are good that I will. The decision to do this was based on a couple of things; I need the extra income, the hours are conducive for writing and gardening (summers off), I like kids (yes, I know what to expect from a bus full), and it's something I can do until my "dream job" materializes.

TC, I thought your drinkin' days were over. But I can see how a bus full of screaming monkeys could drive you back to it. Really, though, that's just iced tea, like in the movies. Right?

You'll be a good bus driver TC. Good luck! Better you than me for sure!

I think this could be a good thing. It'll make you get out of the house (and possibly find some inspiration?) early every day, and then you'll have several hours to kill until it's time to go back and do it again.

I am my most productive when I have a few hours to kill... sometimes I create situations like that to amp up my productivity. Anyway, you won't have to wear a "botide" to this job - casual dress is fine, I'm sure! :)

Can't blame you for seeking out additional income. It sounds like the bus driving will work out good with your schedule.

Maybe you should invest in a good pair of earplugs before beginning! hehe!

Excellent idea! I'm sure you'll get the job. I would trust you with my kids.

Well, TC, I guess somebody has to do it;) Good luck on the tests. I know a lady bus driver over in the quad city area and she is a normal, sane gal who hasn't been driven to committing any violent acts (that we know of).

Betty Boop drove a school bus for years and years. I thought she was crazy!! So you know what I think of you:))

W2W: It might be evident to you that I removed that rather controversial photograph. Let it be known that it was a staged event. ;~)

Ms. Tina: Thanks! I have no fear.

Ms. Terri: I find the schedule appealing. But still not sure if I'll be chosen for any particular school bus driver position.

Ms. Susie: I already asked about using my iPod; not allowed. :~(

Ms. Luisa: That's awful nice of you to say. Thanks.

WiW: Thanks a lot!

Ms. Marnie: It takes someone with a lot of patience, a sense of humor, and a love for kids, just to mention a few things. I'm proud to say I have all three of those traits.

FD: We'll say how sane I am "years and years" from now!

EM: That's a good suggestion. If I get the job I just might start one that deals with the trials and tribulations of being a school bus driver.

I don't think I could be a school bus driver! Too many kids in one place always ends up really annoying, with them all screaming and yelling and leaving behind a lot of mess! But someone has to do it and best of luck to you, fair play for going for it and I hope you do really well.
