Blogging: A Selfish Act?

Sometimes I wonder why I do this, blog that is. And I keep coming back to the same answer: good writing practice. But if blogging is writing why not call your blog "write?" Why not say "I write" instead of "I blog?" I don't necessarily think blogging is writing, but I'm sure some of you would disagree. If you think blogging is writing and writing is blogging might you explain to me the difference?

I think blog writers use an omnipotent narrator's voice because some seem to know and tell about so many things. And it doesn't matter whether their writing (blogging?) about fact or fiction. I'm beginning to think that blogging (writing?) is an act of selfish pleasure for some folks. It might be that for me.

I used to think that getting a job as a writer would be the ultimate career, but cynicism has crept in as I've gotten older. There are certain things you come to realize as you get older: Life waits for no one!

Glad to see you back on Blogger. I hope that's not too selfish of me. One thing, though. Could you do away with the word verification since you already have comment moderation? Pretty please? It's a real pain in the puote (one of the words I had to copy).
